Over the last 30 years, Mark Brown has built a reputation as one of the most dedicated and hardworking cartographers in the mapping industry.

Kenneth “Nick” Brown and Mark Brown, my grandfather and father, founded Quality Maps in 1992 to provide every town, county, and state in the southeast, regardless of size, with a detailed map of their area. They felt that some of these communities were underserved and underrepresented by the larger map companies of the time. While our family-run business has grown substantially over the past decades, our new company, MHB Mapping, is dedicated to providing you with accurate, informative, and detailed maps along with our new line of wall art products, and coasters.

Growing up in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, I saw the shift in map creation from a physical to digital medium happen day by day. Before the advent of digital cartography, maps needed to be updated by hand using a large, lighted tracing table. I would watch my father place the prior year’s map on the table and then overlay it with a thin sheet of tracing paper, compositing the new streets, schools, and parks for that year’s map. Drawing the new map was only one aspect of cartography during that era, as Nick and Mark would also have to travel to different county chambers of commerce to physically pick up new street data due to the limitations of online data-transfer at that time.

Nowadays, this street data can be sent at a moment's notice via email and the updated drawing of maps are done with the use of a digital pencil, but the attention to detail of maps themselves is as thorough and precise as the hand drawn legacy from which they began.

In 2021, we at MHB Mapping are striving to provide you with the best products in the mapping industry, but that’s not all. This year, MHB Mapping will see one of its largest updates, from a larger social media presence, a brand new website, and some brand new products that will present our maps in  more artistic renderings!

We hope you’ll come along with us on this journey and look forward to providing you with the best products and customer service in the mapping industry.
